About me
Hi!
My name is Kateřina (shortly Katka) and I've always been passionate about languages. In the early 1990s I taught Czech grammar to my teddy bears. Now, way more successfully, I teach Czech as a foreign language to students all around the world. I've had the pleasure to work with learners from 5 continents!
I had worked as a teacher at language schools in the Czech Republic, Poland, and Kyrgyzstan before going mostly online in 2017. Teaching one-to-one has been a great pleasure: I love closely monitoring each student's progress and adjusting the curriculum and pace to everyone's needs. This year I'm also teaching Czech focused on medical and other life science subjects at the Charles Univeristy. Can I also help you to become fluent?
I graduated from Pedagogy and Social Pedagogy at the Charles University in Prague. Later I gained my second MA in Billingual Education at the University of Warsaw. My areas of interest are multilingualism and materials development. I'm also a certified medical translator.
I know what it is like to be a language learner. I'm currently learning Romanian, Turkish, and Dutch. Besides, I'm fluent in English, Polish and Portuguese and communicative in Russian and Spanish. I'd like to learn Indonesian one day :)
After hours
I'm a plantlover
During COVID, I became a foliage fanatic. I've accumulated over 50 plants in my apartment, but I'm still learning how to keep them alive. I turned my balcony into a herb garden, but it's regularly being destroyed by my toddler or one of my four furry friends.
Libraries are my natural habitat
When I'm not working, you'll likely find me in the city library or lost in a good book. My love for literature has been a lifelong passion, and I enjoy discovering new stories and ideas. Books have always been my ultimate escape.
